Answer: b) Goofy! This is also a skateboarding term

Answer: c) 80 feet! The record was set in 2017 at the Village Nazare in Portugal. 

3. What was the first year that surfers competed at the Olympics?

a) 1980

b) 1990

c) 2010

d) 2020

Answer: d) 2020 in Japan was the first year Surfing was part of the Olympics - Even though Duke Kahanamoku first advocated for it to be added back in 1920. 

4. What shark is most likely to attack surfers in Hawaii?

a) Tiger Shark

b) White Tip Reef Shark

c) Great White

d) Hammerhead

Answer: a) Tiger Shark. The bite rate is still very low considering the number of people who surf, swim, and dive in Hawaii.

5. What is the surfing term for a wave that is too small to ride?

a) Clam Draggers

b) Shrimp Tips

c) Toe Sinkers

d) Ankle Slappers

Answer: d) Ankle Slappers are waves that barely go higher than the surfers ankle.

6. In 1916, the first recognizable mini golf course opened in which US town?

Answer: a) Pinehurst California was first with a course called Thistle Dhu, and pronounced as ‘this’ll do’, the name was a play on words, indicating that this will do in place of a full-sized golf course!

7. Surf's Up is quite challenging with a 46 Par - but do you know what the course record is?

Answer: c) 35! Ben Stout who lives just over the bridge broke the record 3 times! (38, 36, 35) during our Spring League in 2026. Before you say you broke the record, just know that he has played the course a minimum of 50 times to get those numbers. 

8. What is the most important factor in influencing the shape of a wave?

a) The Moon

b) The Water Temperature

c) The Wind

d) The Seabed

Answer: d) 35! The Seabed. The most important influence on wave shape is the topography of the seabed directly behind and immediately beneath the breaking wave. Each break is different since each location's underwater topography is unique. 

9. How many Surf Boards are hung around the property including Wooden benches and signs? 

a) 30-40

b) 40-50

c) 50-60

d) 60-70
